The project will transform the cinema, originally built in 1969, to meet today's needs by expanding its facilities to include a 500-seat auditorium. The floor area of the auditorium will increase from 360 square meters to 1,020 square meters. The hall will be equipped with modern transformation tools, allowing it to host a variety of events and initiatives, including cinema, exhibitions, creative industries, and conference tourism.
Peikko Lietuva played a crucial role in the reconstruction of this center. For this specific project, DELTABEAM® Composite Beams were specially designed, manufactured, and transported to the construction site located in the Curonian Spit National Park. The total length of the manufactured beams reached 325 meters.
In the building's first floor, DELTABEAM® Composite Beams were installed around the perimeter, creating a cantilevered façade. This solution fulfilled the vision of an aesthetical and functional design. The slim floor structures enabled the creation of a large, open space within the building. The implementation required two nearly 13-meter-long and 50 cm high DELTABEAM® composite Composite beamsBeams, on which 14-meter-long and 50 cm high hollow-core slabs were installed.
The project included varying basement slab levels, for which the DELTABEAM® Composite Beams proved to be highly effective. While these beams are primarily designed for creating level slabs, their versatility was leveraged to form slabs of different heights by welding permanent formwork to them. Additionally, PCs® Hidden Corbel connections with DELTABEAM® Composite Beams were utilized in specific areas of the building. This solution allowed for the efficient integration of various structural elements and simplified the construction processes.
On the building's roof, a structural bridge was created using a 10-meter-long and 40 cm high DELTABEAM® Composite Beam. Integrating this beam into the small 22 cm high beams at both ends presented a significant challenge for the project designers. However, the close collaboration between Peikko and the client's engineers led to the development and application of innovative solutions in the project.
